Opening up boxes at the Saks Day After Christmas Sale is better than opening up Boxes on Christmas Morning
hog·ger
noun
2.
Hogger--the notorious word of the day at Saks. Not to be mistaken for a Hoarder, a Hogger is an indecisive shopper who simply hogs as many pairs of shoes as she can hold in her arms only to later dispose of 9 out of the 10 she grabbed.
Also called hog·head . Railroads Slang . alocomotive engineer.
lurk
verb (used without object)
1.
to lie or wait in concealment, as a person in ambush; remain in or around a place secretly or furtively.
2.
to go furtively; slink; steal.
3.
to exist unperceived or unsuspected.
Lurker, this is a characteristic that generally goes hand in hand with hogging. Lurkers are those who slyly wait behind mirrors and beams, watching shoppers with the best piles. Lurkers wait patiently for hoggers to give up their unwanted red-soled shoes and sky-high platforms.
Hoggers and Lurkers are not friends. In fact, they are arch-enemies. What we had a taste of today was a minor battle between the two opposing sides. While no blood was shed, there were many altercations over YSL Pewter Tributes for 50% off of $768.

Last minute holiday shopping on 9th street (And Some on 10th)
Walking through the East Village is nostalgic for most people--especially when you know where to shop. If you're one of those who has yet to walk these streets, let us show you some of the hot spots!
We started off going east on 9th street. The first store we walked into was Pinkyotto, a boutique filled with warm and fuzzy hats, a gift great for anyone who likes to stay warm.
As we made our way toward 1st Ave, we stopped into Ame' Ame'. We think it was the mixture of candy and face-themed umbrellas that drew us in.
Next was Tangdance, where we found an eclectic selection. There was everything from feather earrings, to lipstick pens and creepy dolls. Definetely a place worth visiting.
Right next door, our attention was quickly re-shifted at Duo. Here we found unique jewelry, sweaters, and Cat Stevens themed calendars. We wish we could play in your store all day long Duo!
We made a pit stop at one of our all-time vintage favorites, Fabulous Fanny's, to pick up a couple of clutches.
We segued over to 10th to visit a truly one of a kind place. Obscura Antiques & Oddities is an experience indescribable. We strongly recommend you making a trip down for this place. For the weird uncle who collects obscure taxidermy like snakes and mice this is the go-to spot.
We rounded up our day at Cloak & Dagger, where we found the coolest helmets in the world. These helmets will surely make anyone who feels like she's ten years old again, feel like the hottest chick riding through town.
Enjoy our picks!
Obscura Antiques & Oddities is a must when you're in the village.
So ladies (and gents), forget the usual suspects uptown and make your way down to the east village!

A Fashionista's playground at 139 5th Avenue
The Helmut Lang/Theyskens' Theory sample sale was something spectacular. The place could easily be mistaken for a MePa boutique. Racks were organized beautifully, it was obvious that whoever put this sale together was very attentive. Whoever you are, you deserve a pat on the back!
From the moment we walked in we were as excited as two little girls on their first trip to Dylan's Candy Bar. Where to look first?? Ladies, here is a quick rundown of the best way to tackle this one:
Looking for Theyskens' cashmere? You can find those with a blindfold if you just walk straight when you get off the stairs.
How about those great Helmut Lang T's we all love? Take a left and walk towards the windows for racks filled with $49 tops.
Ok and as for the animal skins...those are to the right and continue along the wall toward the dressing rooms. (Oh, yes, there are dressing rooms!!! And we're not talking communal, you can have your own! We, of course, shared :)).
Don't forget about the handbags, those are in boxes against the wall.
We almost forgot the best part:
There was stuff from this season!! Sorry to the people who just bought their Helmut Lang open knit sweaters--maybe go return them and head to 139 5th.
As for pricing, we say it was very fair and nothing to Wreak Havoc over.
Thanks Helmut and Olivier!! We are two very happy girls!

DVF Sample Sale Video
Special Thanks to you Drew :)
Supermarket Sweep? Nope, it's just the DVF Sample Sale.
Excitement rushed through us as we saw tons of well-dressed ladies in their work attire pushing and shoving eachother for DVF! These were the same women we saw on the line outside, all completely calm and composed. But inside the sale, the animals were unleashed.
There were only a few styles that were sought after with a vengance, the most coveted of them all being the infamous mongolian fur vest. "What was so special about this piece?" We asked our fellow shoppers. They simply responded with a coy grin. Uh oh, we were in for some kind of battle.
And as for the recap of the sale, the overall feel was like an episode of Supermarket Sweep. The sheer determination these shoppers had was comprable to a young couple looking to get as many groceries into their carts in under a minute as they could. Pairs of hands and elbows were filled with wrap dresses, handbags, and knits.
We must say DVF, you really did a nice job with pricing! The most expensive item in all sales should be no higher than the low price of $350, just like at your sale!
And ladies, we apologize in advance if your boss sees these pics of you- I'm sure all of you had "doctors appointments" this morning.

Sample Sale Sindy at the Ralph Lauren Sale
On the most bitter morning NYC has faced since last year's blizzard, Ralph Lauren hosted their winter sale at Soiffer Haskin. We got there at our usual early hour, and joined a line of 20. Slowly people piled in, but nobody seemed excited. Where were the usual suspects we encountered at YSL and Ferragamo? Nobody was interested in chatting with us. Until we met Sindy.
This is Sindy....She is the epitome of who we've been longing to meet during our sale chronicles. She attends sale that we sadly overlooked. Kipling, Jones New York, Rocawear....how did we forget about these? We can only imagine how many awesome "Sindys" we could have met.We will be on close contact with her to find out just when these sales will be.
As for the other bystanders, we had some fun with good ole Lou, and a couple other friendly guys.
But for the most part, the characters stopped at Lou and Sindy. People were too cold and shivery to participate in our antics.
As for the sale itself, our hopes and dreams of finding Ralph saddle bags and polo sweaters were crushed. There was a ton of cashmere, some gorgeous gowns, and beautiful furs. But these pieces were not at all affordable. Gowns were marked down from $8000 to a whopping $3000. Sweaters were still over $200. And as for shoes, there was only a small table that one could easily miss if she didn't look hard enough. We are not kidding--there may have been 20 boxes, and one girl got the only three fashionable pairs.
Unless you're looking to spend a nice chunk of change this holiday season, we would suggest waiting for Macy's to do their final winter markdowns.
Oh and Sindy, please stay in touch, we really love you!

December is Looking Crazy and it has Only Just Begun!
November was a month filled with tons of sale success. From the complete chaos at Ferragamo, to the beautiful brides at Kleinfeld, we had tons of material to work with. As the month came to an end, we wondered what December would be like. Would designers feel the holiday cheer and host sales where shoppers could grab gifts at great prices?
Right then we learned of a slew of sales that began on December 1st. Theory, Phillip Lim, Rag & Bone, La Garconne-- each sale more incredible than the next. Those houses were obviously feeling generous! (I snagged that Rag & Bone hatwrap for $65!!)
And now we are about to embark on another crazy couple of weeks. We are especially excited for Ralph Lauren. We anticipate much of the same behavior we encountered at Ferragamo. After-all, Ralph Lauren is one the largest brands in the country, if not the world. Shoppers will certainly come prepared to put up a fight. Oh-- and the fact that this sale is just two weeks before Christmas will probably bring out some, shall we say, other interesting behavior.
Rain or shine, we will certainly be there! Hope to see you all!
And don't forget to mark your calendars for Carlos Falchi, DVF, and the Theyskens Theory/Helmut Lang sales!

Behind the doors (and up a rickety elevator) of the La Garconne Warehouse Sale
With all the sales this week, a lot of sample sale shoppers probably had a hard time picking which one to attend. Rag and Bone, Rodarte, Phil Lim and many other coveted designers were all hosting their sales at great prices.
Then theres the La Garconne sale that had pretty much all those designers in one room!! So no need to waste your precious Metro Card fee on running around Manhattan from sale to sale.
Rick Owens, Boy, Rotarte, Helmut Lang, Phil Lim, Carven, Acne, Thakoon, Pringle, Cacharel, Victor and Rolf, See by Chloe, Stella Mccartney, Preen. Surface to Air, V.P.L. and many others were hanging on the racks perfectly organzied by size. Do I need to say more?
I guess I do....
Along with the designer clothes, there were mirror hogs, narrow aisles and pushy ladies with their daughters. But that's always expected at these sales.
If you're a Barneys shopper, you will LOVE the selection. Especially because you've probably tried on some of the things at full price a month or two ago.
Relatively speaking, the clothing at the La Garconne sale were well priced but I must stress the words Relatively Speaking. 150 bucks for a Rodarte for Opening Ceremony sweater is a great price but it's not lets hit the girl next to me kind of good price. There were also things like Rag and Bone dresses for a quarter of the price (literally!!)
As I walked out of the sale onto the cobblestone street, I looked up. There was a sign saying "Soho is Sexy." I agree with that but I also agree that La Garconne is sexy too.
Below are a few of my new favorite things!

I conclude this post saying that this sale was totally worth a trip down to soho (or a trip up depending where you live). I got amazing things!
Please Go! Today's their last day.

The Search for the Lost Rag & Bone Hatwrap
It was a typical Thursday morning, rushing around getting ready to leave for work. I went to throw on my coat and scarf when I noticed it was gone. My most prized scarf, the Rag & Bone Grayling Hatwrap, was nowhere to found! I keep all of my scarves in the same place, so when I saw that it was not in the right spot I knew it was gone forever. Some woman in Jersey scored BIG TIME. How careless of me to leave it behind in a diner right off the parkway? I was truly depressed.
The moment I got home I rushed to my computer in the hopes of finding some website that still had last years accessories. It was then that I remembered the Rag & Bone sale had begun! It was 7:32, and the sale was closing at 8. I had to get there. If there was a chance I was replacing my baby, this was my only shot. I grabbed my dad (who happened to be at my place for a visit)and we raced to a cab. The goal was to get from the Upper East Side to West Chelsea in under 15 minutes.
The cab pulled up to the sale at 7:56, and we ran only to find the doors to the sale closed! The sale was over for the day! "Come back tomorrow," said the guard.
Come back tomorrow!?? Come back tomorrow!!!!!!??????? After all that there was no way I was leaving without my scarf. We begged and begged and banged on the glass doors to get somebody's attention. I think it was my dad flashing his iPhone clock that grabbed the eye of a young salesgirl. She came to the door and asked what the commotion was about. I explained my story as my father continued to plead. After a moment of contemplation she opened the door and told me to hurry up.
I was in! The feeling that came over me was more than I can describe.
And there it was, calling my name. My scarf, my Rag & Bone Grayling Fairlisle Hatwrap, was tucked away waiting for me.
