6am on 17th street this morning seemed no different than any other day. The Barneys Warehouse Sale was scheduled to open a 8 but there was not more than 15 people waiting outside. Maybe it was the online sale or maybe shoppers simply knew what we were about to find out.
People started to show up at around 7:30 crowding 17th street, but once inside the vibe was really composed. Was this really the Barneys Warehouse Sale? Because the last time we were here people were acting like hungry hippos.
We browsed around picking up some havoc-worthy pieces and noticed a common theme amongst all the merchandise--the famously low prices were just not there. It seemed liked Barneys was playing a trick on all us SIPs--luring us in by promising us great savings, making us wake up at the crack of dawn leaving us no choice but to eat our breakfast while waiting on line.
Instead, all we found was 50% reductions if we were lucky. We also found a few havoc-worthy pieces that were not reduced at all.
The best part of the sale was the shoe section--although the prices were still pretty high.

ReplyDeletepon a completely off-topic note.... I love the red Nikes in the first picture. any idea what style they are?
ReplyDeletePretty sure the style is called Cortez. Yeah they're awesome!
Deleteit's better to shop 75% off in store than going on the first day of the warehouse sale because they mark the items back up to 50% as evidenced by the photos above. it's crazy to wait on line on the first day. it's only worth it to go when they start with extra markdowns.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your review. I thought it was "hard to tell the price" (ie that they forgot to mark things down since many discount prices were written in pen), but apparently I was mistaken - it was just the stuff they couldn't sell in the store at the full price. Waste of time. Also, there wasn't a line at 6 PM yesterday - no wait for the registers either.
ReplyDeleteIf you need jeans, there were deep bins in all sizes, but the prices were still $80 (AG) to $120 (Citizens). You can find better sales at Bloomies.
