Calling All British Folk and Sex and the City Fans...Vivienne Westwood Sample Sale is Back!

Who doesn't remember this scene from the first Sex and the City movie?  If you don't, let us tell you a little bit about it.  Carrie, the lady with a bird on her head is wearing a wedding gown designed by the very talented Vivienne Westwood. And yes, she got the dress for free.  She is hitting her fiance,"John" aka Mr. Big with her bouquet of flowers because he changes his mind about getting married to her on their wedding day.

So lets get back to the point...
Vivienne Westwood, the queen of all things British is hosting a sale this Wednesday.  This picture sets the tone of what we expect to go on at the sale.
Instead of the Carrie and Big, we expect British ladies, die hard Vivienne Westwood fans, and/or tourists that just came off the Sex and the City tour bus to be there.  Instead of the flowers, we think the weapons of choice for shoppers will be fists to punch with and fingers to pull hair with.  And the face Carrie is making, will definitely be made by shoppers over a signature plaid skirt or a rare vintage Viv.

So watch out for weapons, Sarah Jessica Parker wannabes, and ladies that fight at the Vivienne Westwood sample sale starting Wednesday, May 2nd at 20 West 36th Street on the 6th floor.

A Prom with No Limo, No Booze, and No After Party

Who doesn't want to look fabulous on their prom night? I mean, c'mon, it's prom!  Last night, Topshop hosted the Ultimate Prom Party at their Soho store helping girls look beautiful for a night they'll probably remember forever.  There was a DJ, virgin drinks, a bunch of addictive snacks and a makeshift beauty salon.  Let's walk you through our experience...

Hello High School! Topshop is Celebrating the Prom Tonight :)

For all you prom queens and prom wannabe's out there, Topshop is where it's at tonight. In honor of this holy high school event, the Soho shop is hosting a Prom Party, complete with hair styling from Belle of the Ball Beauty Bar and styling tips for a Teen Vogue editor.

We can't wait to pretend we are 17 again :)

A Few Havoc-Worthy Words With Coco Rocha

Yes, we may have only to been able to grab a few short moments with Zac Posen at his Lord & Taylor launch last Wednesday. We did, however, get the chance to talk to fellow blogger and Zac fan, supermodel Coco Rocha.

Our Morning Was Equally as Exciting as the Altuzarra x J. Crew Clothing Racks...

We joined the line of 3 ladies and a baby at the J. Crew store in Rockefeller Center (stupidly assuming that this was the Flagship), excited to see what Joseph Altuzarra had come out with.  Once the clock struck 10, we hurried inside only to receive disappointing news. The Flagship was at 5th Avenue and 17th street, and that was the only J. Crew carrying the line. 

So we hurried to the train, and on to 17th street only to be a teeny drop more excited. Yes, the line was there, but the collection seemed like it was missing a few key pieces that Altuzarra is known and loved for. Where were the trenches and florals? Even though we love anything he touches, we really wish there was more to choose from. 

Maybe we will catch your next sample sale instead Mr. Altuzarra :)

Get Your Claws Ready Girlies Because the Nancy Gonzalez Sample Sale is Around the Corner

An experience from a girl that shall remain nameless at last years Nancy Gonzalez sample sale...

"I was at the Nancy Gonzalez sample sale last May.  I can't normally afford a crocodile skin tote for $4000 so when I heard that she was having a sample sale, I gathered some money and went to the sale in hopes of getting a tote for half price.  When I got there, there were tons of what appeared to be composed Upper East Side moms casually shopping.  I made my way to the table of exotics and grabbed the last black tote.  My smile was bigger than the Cheshire cat.  All of a sudden, the bag was snatched from my hands.  A lady wearing the largest ring I have ever seen yelled, "That was mine. You took my bag."  She then called her friends over.  They then called me a thief and told me paupers do not belong here.  I put the tote down, walked away and began to cry."

Please come prepared for this sale.  Make sure your skin is thick on the morning of May 8th.  Have no mercy and no shame...

A Short Chat With Zac Posen

Trying to get some 2 on 1 time with Zac Posen was close to impossible last night at Lord & Taylor's Z Spoke launch party.  But we were on a mission...

So we shoved our way through Zac's "security guards" and a very large crowd of Zac groupies and asked him a few questions that we knew he'd enjoy.  Since February marked ten years of the Zac Posen line, we knew exactly what to give him as a present.

We know that as a kid you used to steal yarmulkes from synagogue to make bell dresses for your dolls.  We thought the little thief in you would enjoy this.

(Zac laughs)  My favorites were always those lace ones--you know, the ones that the ladies wear on their heads.

We read somewhere that you said everyone should have a scent, a good pair of underwear, and a great pair of sunglasses.  Since you are not wearing sunglasses, which would you like to share with us--Your scent or your underwear?

My scent.  But i did put it on this morning.  It's Jar.  It's by a jeweler in Bergdorf Goodman.  

So if you'd like to smell like Zac, go to Bergdorf Goodman.  If you'd like to meet Zac Posen, you missed your shot.  And if you'd like to be adorned in Z Spoke dresses, head to Lord & Taylor.  

Zac Today Jo Tomorrow...(Or Monday if you Prefer Hand to Hand Combat)

The year of democratic collaborations continues tonight with none other than Mr. Zac Posen himself. We can't wait to meet him this evening at Lord & Taylor and ask him all sorts of fun questions like which of his puppies is most fun to play dress-up with, and what his go-to dance move is.

But another collaboration that I am drooling over is Joseph Altuzarra and J. Crew. Is this real? Apparently  it all begins tomorrow when you can place your orders via phone. But as always, we prefer to throw ourselves straight into the eye of the storm which will be on Monday at the actual J.Crew Store.

Who Wants to Party with Alberta Ferretti?

While browsing through the racks of Macy's latest (and quite possibly cutest) Impulse collaboration, I noticed a velvet rope in the middle of all the gorgeous Alberta Ferretti. It was not arranged or set up in any way so my first reaction was, "Oh no! What did I miss!??!" So I found a friendly Macy's Impulse employee who turned my frown upside down.

As it turns out, I did not miss anything . In fact, I was wayyyy early. Alberta Ferretti will be at the Macy's Herald Square this evening, drinking champagne and celebrating her new line. She is said to arrive at 6pm and stay until about 7:30, but the party goes on till 8. So if you feel like dancing around in your new Alberta Ferretti drinking champagne and sharing truffles with the designer herself, Macy's is where its at :)

Meet Zac Posen at Lord & Taylor!

While we have been waiting like 2 little girls on Christmas Eve for the arrival of the Z Spoke Zac Posen line for Lord & Taylor, we stumbled upon some wonderful news. This wednesday evening, Zac will be at the L&T on 5th avenue, shopping his line with those who attend! 

We will certainly be there, will you? 

Are They Waiting to Meet Oprah? Nope, They're Just Waiting to Pay at the Jimmy Choo Sample Sale

Yes, they are really just waiting to pay for their Choos. 

And the answer is yes, it is totally worth it. The cashiers are being pretty lenient about what they consider damaged goods. A teeny, yet fixable scratch will snag you a pair for only $75. 

But you be the judge while enjoying clips of the many shoes and many, many lurkers....

Let's Not Forget About Tomorrow...

Yes, yes, by now most of you have heard about the Raf Simons (formally head designer at Jil Sander) takeover at Dior, but between stomachaches from Easter Eggs and Matzoh, we haven't had a chance to jump up and down to celebrate. So here's to you Dior! This should be a good marriage....

The Jimmy Choo-Choo Train is Back in Town!

And we cannot wait to jump on for a ride.

This sample sale has not happened in two years, so the intensity will be through the roof! Jimmy Choo fanatics have been waiting since August of 2009 for this gift of a sale to happen again, so now that it is finally going down we anticipate some seriously messed up sh*t. Forget about Hoarders for a moment and consider this: It has been known to get really dirty when something comes between women and their shoes (Remember what I did for my Choo's at Saks??). And this 2-year sale leave of absence is exactly what will get a lady's shoe engine going. Picture a large room with endless rows quickly turning into a giant mess of women and shoes. We plan to be involved in the mayhem, but we might consider helmets. Seriously!

We got a little carried away with ourselves at the Marni x H&M sale, so in order to "pinch our pennies" we plan on tackling Elie Tahari on its final day. Wow Karl, you really have your hand in everything. And everything you touch turns to couture ;)

So naturally, Anglo-Italian company AgustaWestland has approached King Karl to design new limited edition VIP helicopters for its clientele.

Count us in for flying high with Karl :) 

H&M Drank the Kool Aid, and We Can't Wait to See What it Makes Them do

While most of you know H&M as the the Mama that gave birth to some of our favorite collaborations, it has recently declared its latest pregnancy: "& Other Stories"


Yes, H&M has jumped on the high-end bandwagon, and we simply cannot wait to see what this fresh young line of stores has to offer. Perhaps a collaboration with Chanel? 


Sadly, none of our questions can be answered until 2013, when H&M plans to open & Other Stories. And while they are keeping most of the details hush hush Camilla Emilsson-Falk, head of H&M's media relations says, "It will be at a slightly higher price bracket and with a little better quality, but still stay within the framework of our business concept-fashion and quality at the best price."

The power that H&M has over people (especially us) is priceless.   People wake up at the crack of dawn and wait on line for hours in the frigid cold just to get their hands on H&M’s limited edition collaborations.  People get nasty, people get malicious, people act as if they have a personal vendetta against the person in front of them.

Now here comes another reason to fight.  On April 12^th H&M will debut their exclusive Glamour Conscious collection.  The line will consist fabrics like organic cotton, hemp and recycled polyester.  And they are fabulous!  So all you eco-friendly hoarders, this will be your heaven.
